I wonder how my girlfriend’s parents will react if I say that the job I’m aiming for after college is Problogging. Hmm… I guess they’ll kick me out and ban me from seeing their daughter forever.
Sigh. That’s the problem with non-bloggers. They see blogging merely as a hobby. If they only knew how much one can earn from it.

You can always tell them you’re a “columnist” for “an online publication”.

I know right? We’re in an industry that less than 1% of the population can only grasp.

It is hard enough to explain blogging to non-blogging friends! Also, I blog but I look at blogging as a hobby, at least for now. Not a “mere” hobby, though, because I’ve seen the power in blogs. Let’s just say my creative side needs an avenue since this desk job almost always just lets me analyze stuff. Like any other tool, blogging can serve our various needs differently yet effectively.

its hard to explain to them
but if you explain clearly what you do, they will understand it in a matter of time
glad that my future mom in law fully understands the world of blogging.
thanks to TV news feature hhahhaa.

I could totally relate to this one.
Whenever I’m asked what my job is by new acquaintances, long-lost friends, distant relatives and the like - I would just answer them that I’m a software engineer in Makati. Haha.

It would be cool to have such a job, especially if it pays well. You could laugh at your overqualified friends.

One shouldn’t rely on one source of income. While one can earn from blogging, it’s good to diversify income opportunities.

It’s a very good thing that my in-laws understand that I am earning money as a blogger. They don’t actually know about my blog. But they know that everytime I’m on the PC at home, I was doing something to earn something.
And luckily, my husband does understand about it. Aba, mahirap ata kumita ng money nowadays. So I have a permanent work, and do blogging at night, pag kaya ko pa, kc I’m pregnant. And I need money for my pregnancy. Baka ceasarian ako eh, so kailangang mag-ipon. And this blogging and earning online from one of my website does really help us a lot.
Hmmm for u Karlo, I guess ilabas mo na lahat ng mga checks and evidence, icompile mo na silang lahat =p
Can you make me a comic of a pregnant woman blogging to earn some money? Wag lang lalagpas ng May kc sa June manganganak na ako hehehe….

my parents don’t know about blogging. when they asked me about the Google Adsense checks I’m receiving before, I told them I created a website and make money from it.

I think it’s the best when you have proof and just tell then straight like that… that you have something on the Internet and you are earning money from it.
And when you are earning a lot as in a lot, I guess they won’t care much how you do it. The thing would be… “My ____ is earning a lot of free money from the Internet.”
Happy earning to all.

It might be a problem if you can’t afford to earn money for living. That’s mean, if you can earn like other occupation cosistently, being a pro-blogger shouldn’t be a problem.
Btw, do make a wise decision and all the best… ;D
